INFLUENCES

In Dismas’s first works, he used the simple materials of cardboard and rosin paper with themes based upon Japanese folklore as well as the Floating World of the Ukiyo-E prints. Kurt Schwitters and Joseph Cornell influenced these collage pieces. Photographers Aaron Suskind and Barbara Crane influenced him. The assemblages of Marcel Duchamp and Joseph Bueys have also had an impact.
